The Official Opening of Blog (Final)

People thinks and acts in a very peculiar way most of the times. When they are happy and enjoying themselves, they become complacent and unaware of their surrounding; when they are stressed and being pushed, they become protective and make excuses; and when they are about to loose something, they try to find their way out of the mess unethically or using “dirty” tricks. Fortunately, I am able to witness these act everyday, and although I am not a perfect person myself, at least I have self-control on my consciences and actions.

I managed to catch up with a friend of mine couple of days back during lunch break. It was at the pantry when I was brewing my camomile tea (yes, I skipped my lunch). The first thing that he said to me was, “Did you here about si-polan-bin-si-polan resigned?”. Yes, the topic of the year was about people getting sacked, people resigned, people moved to Middle East, undeserved people who’s getting low rating, unexpected people getting high ranking, people postponed their wedding or engagement, and others. Strange? No, if you are in the company…

The morale had been all time low since I was with the company almost 5 years ago in 2005. Those days, the working environment was not that bad with good management and people’s welfare are being looked at. Then came the first wave of management change, where spending is abundant and a lot of micro-cronyism. Why? Imagine the year filled with let say 10 company events, but guess who’s the committee? The same faces for all the 10 events. And strange enough, they’re from the same department. Kiss ass? I’m not at liberty to accuse people…

Those were also the time when “invisible” people seems to be visible at the eye of the management, and vice versa; the time when doing less will ensure you get more; the time when showing your face more will ensure your immediate recognition; and ass-kissing were at large. If you think you’re getting the worse ranking of all for your appraisal, tell that to the other 600 colleagues of yours. But guess what? People doesn’t complaint much because we were bribed with so much gifts and incentives. Imagine at least 5-6 company gifts in a year ranging from BSN Saving Certs (amounting to RM800, fuel and shopping vouchers, and other tid-bits (the best was TV and microwave).

Then came the second wave of management change, where the kiss-asses were purged through a systematic reorganization, position deletion, down-sizing and transfer. The move in the first place gave a glimmer of hope to the less-performing people (for promotions), but they were about to be surprised by a bunch on nonsensical policies as mentioned in the previous blogs. Did the morale increase? It came tumbling down, not for a few but almost to all…

The air had been very gloomy for the past couple of weeks after the completion of mid year review. A lot of hearts and dreams shattered; and there’s also a lot of joy to deserving and undeserving people. Fair? I haven’t smell that for quite some time now… And maybe I will not. Where will I be in the next few years? Nobody knows… Should I be prepared for the inevitable? Perhaps the time is NOW

Wassalam.

Life is like a bunch of tasty food; People will eat you until they are full; And throw you out when you’re bad… When you have a potential; they will exhaust you until your last breath; and then throw you out like a piece of s**t…

The Official Reopening of Blog (2)

There been also a drastic managerial change in the company since the new financial year. Several plants (also called asset) was reshuffled and new positions was introduced to cater a few micro-management system. Apparently, it was mentioned that the previous style of management was not “thorough” and several crossed and overlapping functional job scope was detected. There came BT a.k.a. Business Team, a concept where the people who operate the plant sitting together with the people who maintained the plant. A brilliant marriage of people and team members which will theoretically resolve most of the plant issues, recurring or emerging of course. The effectiveness of this system is not yet fully realized, maybe time will tell. Just wait and see when the system has matured.

Then came the new PPA (Personal Appraisal System) which impose a quota system for all ranking from top to bottom. I don’t have any problem with this quota system, but I really don’t like the way people manage the PPA system. I remember what TSP (Tan Sri President) mentioned during his Policy Address weeks back, “The system was perfect, but its the human factor which spoil the system”. Apparently, he was correct! Maybe he was not well informed the consequence of implementing the new quota system, but it does until this day has a very disastrous results.

Several people which I know work really well, has been given M3 (the lowest ranking of 3, which in lay man terms mean you basically don’t do your work). All of these M3 people were given CTO (Career Transition Option), where they will receive compensation (I was told that they will receive last paid salary x 1.5 x months or service) as well as a consulting service which they will find you a new job. Apparently, after kicking you out of guilt they still are willing to find you a new job.

Well, to add up this mess there’s this new policy related to marriage between staff. From what I understand, current residing staff cannot marry someone who will be joining the company. If they do, either one of the spouse has to quit from the company. Weird? Not according to TSP when he said that other global company has been practicing this for quite some time already. According to him, this will prevent COI (conflict of interest), nepotism and favoritism. I am not so sure where this will go, like above, just wait and see.

Enough about work! I managed to get a week of holiday for Hari Raya in Sept 09. There was sad mood in the air because my Opah passed away the day before Hari Raya. So, my father went back to Kuala Kangsar immediately after hearing the news that my Opah lapsed into a coma. When he touched down at LCCT in the evening, my Opah already passed away. It was a sad Hari Raya for my dad, even after 5 days he went back to our hometown. The usual open house at night was done only for close friends and relatives. Even he was missing from our usual Hari Raya photo shoot. We pray that Opah will be placed amongst the righteous. Al-Fatihah…

The Official Reopening of Blog @ 25 Oct 09

Dah lama rupa-rupa nya aku tinggalkan tempat ni. Bukan saja dah bersawang, tapi dah tumbuh kulat & lumut segala nya. Sejak akaun FB aku dah dibukak semula (that is after bukak akaun baru, then apparently akaun baru tu pun kena ban jugak, then reopen balik akaun lama), terasa pulak nak start balik blog ni eventho tak terasa sangat nak mengarang. Nevertheless, aku akan try sedaya-upaya untuk update anything relevant to my life, my thought and everything else.

Sorry, kalau blog ni keep on skipping between BM and BI. I articulate my thought better this way because most of the time I read a lot of English materials (including magazines and also from Wiki), but I still keep BM at my side. To tell you the truth, I typed English better than when I’m speaking them. You should listen to me when I’m presenting something or speaking about something in English. Utterly disaster! I’m have these tendency to skip between topics, mentioned big big words that sometimes are out of context or even I don’t know the meaning, blabbering and my weakness of all… stuttering! Yes… I am a stutter! I even stutter when I speak BM for goodness sake. I don’t know how to prevent them, so anyone of you have any ideas or solution, please advice me.

Things have changed a lot (physically and mentally) to me for the past 6 months since the start of the new company’s financial year. I was enlightened in Apr 09 of my health status during one of those HSE day, when I took those simple heath test where they measure your pulse rate, blood pressure, height and weight. The nurse told me that I was overweight! By how much? Exactly 10kg! OMG! I was shocked at first because apparently I have been neglecting my health and body since I finished University days (4 years previously), and my weight have been increasing since then. In Apr 09 I weighted 65kg, where I should be weighing between 55-57kg (ideal weight).

So, since Apr 09 I was on a fast track weight loss programmes (which I designed myself) so that I can reduce from 65kg to at least 57kg. These regimes involves extreme diet change (from high carbs to high fibers), controlled diet (from 5 meals a day to 2 meals a day), high cardio exercises (mostly jogging or running for 30-45 minutes or 6-8km) almost everyday and also simple workouts such as sit-ups, push-ups and others. Well, all these paid off when my weight starting to loose from 65kg to below 60kg in Jul 09. Then I kept on going until before Ramadhan my weight was already 57kg, within the ideal weight. The Ramadhan came and go although without any exercises (its tiring to jog in Ramadhan) I manage to reduce my weight some more to 55kg. Apparently, my weight keep on reducing until currently at 53kg. The only thing that I have to do now is maintain this weight, since I cannot grow in height anymore! Eating “Calci Yum” apparently doesn’t work for adults.
